Gaios and the Paxos channel

Paxos

Three harbour villages, olive groves and Ionian shores

Get to know Paxos

Loggos houses facing the harbour

In Paxos, the accommodation decision starts with the village you want to return to each evening. South of Corfu, this Ionian island connects olive groves, bays and colourful harbours, yet Gaios, Lakka and Loggos offer different routines. When comparing hotels in Paxos, consider the room's relationship with dinner, the harbour and your selected beach alongside the view.

Gaios is the main settlement and port, with lanes, a square and a channel facing Agios Nikolaos islet. Lakka turns towards a northern bay; Loggos offers a small eastern harbour. Explore between them while reserving time for the overnight village. Western cliffs and sea caves suggest planned outings; eastern coves invite a more specific beach choice.

We would compare villas in Paxos and hotels around evening walks, village mornings or a house among olive trees. Paxos and Antipaxos are separate islands, so check outward and return arrangements for a boat trip. A small island still needs a precise address decision.

Where to stay in Paxos: Gaios, Lakka or Loggos?

First, choose the area that suits you

These three stay areas follow the main harbour villages rather than administrative boundaries. Gaios offers the principal settlement and port, Lakka a northern bay and Loggos a smaller eastern village. Each still distinguishes a waterfront address from a house above the settlement.

Choose the routine first, then establish the beach and dinner route. A house among olive trees differs from a room above a promenade. For boat outings, confirm the departure point and the return to your accommodation.

The main harbour, lanes and square make Gaios a centre for stays beside the eastern channel

Gaios is Paxos' main settlement and principal port. Agios Nikolaos islet creates the channel opposite, while colourful houses, lanes and a square connect the stay with village life and the sea. The Folklore Museum adds a visit when open; cafes and tavernas give mornings and evenings a local focus.

Compare this area when a centre for meals and walks should support the holiday, treating beaches and boat trips as separate outings. Distinguish harbour addresses from hillside houses nearby, which create different evening and arrival routines.

Check the landing point and accommodation transfer alongside parking and steps. A principal port does not place every departure beside the room, and a channel photograph does not define a swimming beach.

  • Lakka village facing the bay

    Northern Paxos

Lakka joins a northern village to a bay of boats, distinguishing waterfront addresses from houses above

Lakka stands at Paxos' northern end beside a bay framed by green hills. The harbour, houses and streets anchor a village stay, with boats part of the daily outlook. Harami is one nearby beach option, but locate it against the accommodation rather than assuming the Lakka name puts every room on the same shore or at water level.

Compare stays here for evenings returning to village and bay, with selected beach or walking outings during the day. Couples and travellers should consider dinner access and house elevation alongside rooms or pool photographs.

Establish parking, gradients and steps to the door. A bay sheltering boats does not guarantee swimming conditions at every hour; check the sea and access separately.

  • Loggos houses facing the harbour

    Eastern Paxos

A small harbour, waterside houses and tavernas give Loggos a village routine on Paxos’ eastern coast

Loggos is a small harbour village on eastern Paxos. Waterside houses, boats and tavernas gather village time around the shore. The old Anemogiannis factory adds context about the island's olive-oil and soap heritage. For swimming, compare surrounding options including Levrechio, distinguishing the harbour from the beach chosen for that day.

Choose this area when evenings should return to a small settlement and a waterside meal, with selected outings to beaches or other villages. A hillside house can create a different relationship with the view and village routine from an address directly facing the harbour.

Check the route between house, tavernas and parking, including the uphill return. The old factory is a historical landmark; its mention does not establish an open visitor attraction or visiting hours.

Found the area that suits you?

Now choose exactly where to stay

Gaios, Lakka and Loggos offer three ways to stay in Paxos. Compare harbour evenings, dinner walks and your intended beach. A bay view from a hillside house creates a different routine from an address within the village.

Choose a place, then refine the address. Establish parking-to-room access, gradients and the return from the sea. Seeing the harbour does not establish an equally convenient walk to it.

  • Gaios and the Paxos channel

    Gaios

Couples and travellers choosing a harbour centre, village lanes and meals during a Paxos stay

Gaios is Paxos’ main settlement and port, facing a channel and green islet. Compare stays for village lanes, a square and waterside meals.

    Our tip

Confirm the boat landing point and onward route to the room. Check elevation and parking: a Gaios address does not guarantee a promenade-side or step-free room.
