Get to know Rhodes

Where to stay in Rhodes starts with a daily plan. Compare Rhodes Town for historic streets and city evenings, Ixia and Ialyssos for a western coastal address, or Faliraki, Afandou and Kolymbia for northeastern beach stays. Lindos, Pefkos and Kiotari offer another set of choices in the southeast. Hotels in Rhodes and villas in Rhodes deserve the same geographical comparison before a pool photograph decides the holiday.
This Dodecanese island combines a walled medieval city with coastal settlements and beaches. Lindos brings whitewashed lanes beneath an acropolis; Rhodes Town connects harbour walks with historical streets. Both can feature in a trip without making every accommodation equally convenient for each visit.
We would choose where to eat, which beach to use and how to travel before comparing properties. Boutique hotels in Rhodes and private-pool villas need an exact address and booked-category check. For a family stay, consider bedrooms, steps and water access too. A coastal place name does not describe the final route from room to shore.

Of every stay in Rhodes, these are the ones we would book for ourselves.
Where to stay in Rhodes?
First, choose the region that suits you
Choosing a Rhodes region means choosing a daily routine. The town offers streets and cultural visits; the west compares coastal addresses; the northeast gathers beach resorts; and the southeast puts villages and particular bays into the plan.
The four regions below are stay-planning comparisons. Start with your intended beach and evening, then choose a settlement. Check the actual journey and return, especially when an itinerary combines different parts of the island.

Rhodes Town
Historic streets, walls and the harbour create a city stay shaped by walking and evenings out
Read more
Rhodes Town makes streets, restaurants and history part of the daily plan. Inside the medieval walls, lanes shape the arrival and evening walk; near the harbour and in newer streets, accommodation creates another routine. A room reached through an old-town lane differs from an address with direct vehicle access.
Compare boutique hotels and city accommodation here when dinner and street walks matter. Plan the swimming beach separately: a harbour location or a photograph of the sea does not establish beach access from the door.
Before booking, check luggage arrival, parking, steps and the room’s street exposure. For a car-free stay, establish the actual arrival and excursion routes.

West Coast
Ixia and Ialyssos offer contrasting coastal addresses, with wind and water sports informing the holiday plan
Read more
On the western coast, compare Ixia and Ialyssos before choosing an individual property. A hotel frontage beside the sea, a street within a settlement and a hillside house create different days. The broad region selects a side of Rhodes; it does not establish the walk to your beach or dinner table.
Consider this coast for a seaside address with separately planned Rhodes Town outings. Wind and water sports form part of its setting, so avoid treating every day as the same swimming plan.
Check road crossings, water entry, steps and evening returns. For a family, assess actual conditions; for a villa, establish provisions and meals too.

Northeast Coast
Faliraki, Afandou and Kolymbia compare resort settlements and beaches through daily routines and the exact address
Read more
The northeastern coast contains several bases rather than one continuous resort. In Faliraki, compare streets, restaurants and the chosen beach; in Afandou, distinguish the village from the shoreline; in Kolymbia, assess the address against its bay and meals. A regional label does not establish the same evening activity or water access everywhere.
Start here when beach days and services around the stay lead the plan. Couples and families can compare the area through different needs: dinner walks, bedroom layout, pools or an outing to another town.
Choose a specific beach and check substrate, depth and approach. Tsambika or another bay needs its own outward and return plan.

Southeast Coast
Lindos, Pefkos and Kiotari offer distinct choices between village lanes, bays and seaside accommodation addresses
Read more
In southeastern Rhodes, Lindos is a useful landmark rather than one address covering every nearby stay. The whitewashed settlement below its acropolis, Pefkos and Kiotari’s coastal stretches provide different bases. Vlicha Bay, often named alongside Lindos accommodation, needs a separate address and village-route check.
Compare this region when a chosen bay, village and local outings should shape the holiday. Lindos can put lanes at the centre of an evening; Pefkos and Kiotari support other beach routines. Gennadi further along the coast is a separate place, not an assumed walkable extension.
Check gradients, parking, dinner access and the daily beach. An acropolis visit involves a different plan from reaching your room.
Found your preferred region?
Now choose your town or village
Choosing a region still leaves a local decision. Ixia and Ialyssos offer different western addresses, while staying in Lindos differs from choosing Pefkos or Kiotari. Within Rhodes Town, a lane inside the walls creates a different routine from a coastal address.
Use these places to move from a region to a particular base. Compare meals, beach routes and the final accommodation entrance.

Rhodes Town
For couples and families who want historical streets, restaurants and city evenings
The northern city combines medieval walls, lanes and a harbour. Compare it when street walks and dinner beyond the hotel should shape the holiday.
Our tip
Check luggage access and the actual route to your chosen swimming beach. A lane within the walls and a seaside address create different city stays.

Ixia
For couples and families comparing a western coastal base with planned city outings
Ixia lies on Rhodes’ western coast, with accommodation along the sea. Compare addresses through the beach, dinner route and separately planned town outings.
Our tip
Check road crossings between the property and beach, plus wind and water conditions on the day. A sea-facing hotel name does not describe the full approach.

Ialyssos
For travellers and families comparing a west-coast stay with outings beyond the hotel
Ialyssos is a western Rhodes base. Compare the settlement and coastal addresses through meals, transport and the swimming plan you intend to follow.
Our tip
The photograph shows Filerimos above Ialyssos, not a hotel beach. Check the accommodation address, sea access and actual wind and water conditions separately.

Faliraki
For families and couples comparing beach days, restaurants and services near their stay
Faliraki is a northeastern Rhodes beach base with resort services and places to eat. The exact address determines your evening routine and shore access.
Our tip
Check the street and room orientation rather than judging the whole resort by its name. Select a specific beach approach and establish the return to dinner and room.

Afandou
For couples and families distinguishing a village stay from a shoreline address
In Afandou, distinguish the village from its beach. Compare accommodation through the route to meals and water rather than relying on the settlement name alone.
Our tip
Locate the property entrance and selected beach approach. Sand, pebbles and changing water depth need an actual conditions check before planning a swimming day.

Kolymbia
For couples and families choosing an address around a bay and local dinner plans
Kolymbia offers a base on northeastern Rhodes. Choose the address against the bay, your specific beach and the place you would like to reach for dinner.
Our tip
Identify the beach stretch serving the property and its approach. A quiet-area description does not establish room noise or an easy walk to every restaurant.

Lindos
For couples and travellers wanting village lanes and an acropolis visit within their stay
Lindos is a whitewashed settlement below an acropolis in southeastern Rhodes. Compare village lanes with a nearby-bay address as different stay choices.
Our tip
Check luggage drop-off and steps to the room. Accommodation described as near Lindos may stand in another bay and require a separate village journey.

Pefkos
For families and couples comparing a local beach base in southeastern Rhodes
Pefkos is a separate southeastern Rhodes base from Lindos. Compare a hotel or house through your chosen beach, meals and the journeys to intended outings.
Our tip
Choose a Pefkos beach and dinner route before prioritising proximity to Lindos. Check the actual approach: a bay outlook does not establish an easy descent to the sea.

Kiotari
For couples and families building a beach holiday around a particular local address
Kiotari is a southeastern Rhodes coastal base. Choose a beach stretch and dinner setting, then compare the individual hotel or house against them.
Our tip
Establish what is walkable from the property and what requires transport. Kiotari needs its own local plan, not an assumption that Rhodes Town or Lindos is beside the door.

Good to know before you go to Rhodes
Choose accommodation alongside your airport or port arrival plan. RODA and KTEL serve different parts of the island; check actual-date routes, stops and the last suitable return. A bus network does not establish a convenient connection to every villa.
Separate shore material, water depth and the approach from the road. The western coast is also associated with wind and water sports; check actual conditions on the day. An organised beach still needs an individual water-entry decision.
Confirm whether the pool belongs to the booked unit or is shared. Check bedrooms, steps, parking access and pool separation against your needs. Regional descriptions cannot establish property-level suitability.
For early or late stays, establish restaurant, beach-service and transport operation. Choose outings suited to the overnight base and reserve time for the settlement itself. A Lindos or Prasonisi visit need not determine where you sleep.

Questions about Rhodes
Compare Rhodes Town for restaurants and street walks, the west for a coastal base, and northeastern or southeastern settlements around your chosen beach. Check the precise address and intended journeys.
Rhodes Town supports a city plan around historical streets and the harbour. Lindos offers village lanes below an acropolis with nearby bays. Compare evenings, outings, steps and luggage arrival.
A local stay can combine transfers, walking and buses when the actual address and routes work. Establish dinner, beach access and evening returns rather than assuming every resort is walkable.
Confirm the pool is private to the booked unit, then bedrooms, steps, parking and routes to meals and the sea. A view photograph does not establish pool privacy or an easy beach walk.
Compare room layout, luggage arrival, the beach approach and actual water conditions. Choose a base around your intended day and check pool arrangements and meals at the property.
