Cookie policy

A cookie is a small text file a site stores in your browser. The site uses the cookies and storage it needs to work, in the right language and safely, and uses the analytics tools described below only with your consent.

This page also covers local storage and session storage. Session cookies end with the browser session; persistent cookies remain until expiry or deletion. The analytics cookies are stored under our site domain even though the data is used by an external provider.

Strictly necessary cookies

  • NEXT_LOCALE (ours): remembers that the language of your visit is settled, so the site does not switch you to another language halfway. Deleted when you close your browser.
  • seascape_app_env (ours): says which environment of the site you are using, so that an error report reaches the right one. It holds nothing about you. Deleted when you close your browser.
  • cookieyes-consent (CookieYes): remembers your choices in the cookie banner, so that it does not ask again on every page. Kept for up to a year.
  • Cloudflare's security cookies, such as __cf_bm: Cloudflare may set them when it needs to check that traffic to the site comes from a person and not from malicious software. Usually for a short time.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile: loads only when you fill in a form, such as the newsletter signup, a request on a property page or the contact form, and checks that the sender is a person. For the check, Cloudflare processes your IP address and technical details about your browser, and does not use them for advertising.

Browser storage

  • seascape:referrer (session storage): remembers which kind of link brought you to a property page, so that we can tell which parts of the site lead to enquiries. Deleted when you close the tab, and sent nowhere unless a measurement tool is turned on with your consent.

Services that set no cookies

The maps on the site load from OpenFreeMap, which receives your IP address to send the map but sets no cookies. Sentry's error reports set no cookies.

Cookies for our team

Team members who sign in to the admin get a sign-in cookie. Visitors to the site never do.

Analytics cookies

If you accept the Analytics category in CookieYes, we use Google Analytics 4 from Google and PostHog to understand visits and sources of traffic, searches, properties viewed, enquiries, and booking and payment steps, and to improve the site. PostHog also measures clicks and page performance and records browsing sessions with text and inputs masked, outside checkout, payment and My bookings pages.

The tools receive a random browser identifier, information about pages and actions on the site, and technical details about your device and browser; requests to them also disclose the connection's IP address. Data is sent to PostHog's European service, and Google may also process it outside Israel.

  • _ga and _ga_ followed by an identifier: Google Analytics cookies for recognizing visits and keeping session state, configured on this site for 30 days.
  • ph_ ending in _posthog or _posthog_cpm: PostHog cookies for analytics identifiers and session state, kept for 30 days.
  • PostHog browser storage: the local-storage key ph_ ending in _posthog holds analytics identity and state, and __ph_opt_in_out_ remembers the analytics choice, without a fixed browser expiry; ph_ session-storage keys manage the tab and are deleted when it closes.
  • seascape_attribution (ours): a random identifier and first and last traffic source, to understand which visits lead to enquiries and bookings, kept for 30 days and renewed when analytics attribution is updated.
  • seascape_analytics_consent (ours): remembers the analytics consent state for server checks, kept for 30 days.
  • sc_demand (ours): a random browser-session identifier for measuring searches and demand, set only after analytics consent and deleted when the browser session ends or consent is withdrawn.

Browser storage lifetimes differ from retention by analytics providers; deleting a cookie does not delete data already sent to them.

The cookie banner

On your first visit, a cookie banner from CookieYes, our consent provider, asks which cookies you agree to, by category: strictly necessary cookies, which the site needs to work and so are always on, and optional categories such as measurement and advertising. Depending on your location, the banner may offer different options. Your choice is stored in the cookieyes-consent cookie for up to a year, and you can change it at any time through the "Cookie settings" button at the foot of every page.

The site also uses Google Consent Mode v2, with measurement and advertising storage denied by default. The analytics tools listed here load only after analytics consent, which you can withdraw at any time through "Cookie settings" at the foot of the page, by choosing "Reject All". Withdrawal stops new analytics collection; it does not automatically delete data already sent to providers or all browser storage. You can delete browser storage in your browser's settings.
