Acro Suites is a boutique wellbeing resort on the rocky cliffs above Mononaftis Bay, in the Agia Pelagia area of Crete. It has 49 suites and villas, each with its own private pool, and the MICHELIN Guide has awarded it One Key.
The suites are bohemian and contemporary, finished in wood, stone and marble. The Cave Suites are carved into the rock, with natural stone walls, made-to-measure wooden furniture and marble from ancient Phaistos. The Loft Suites are on two levels, and in the Eleon I and Wave XL suites the private pool is an infinity pool. The Eleon I and Loft suites take up to three guests, the others two.
The villas sleep from two to eight. The 185 sqm Sunset Villa, for two, sits on the western edge of the resort and faces the sunset. Acroterra, also at the edge of the resort, has two bedrooms, a glass infinity pool and a private garden. The Summer House, set into the rock at the heart of the resort, takes four, and the Grand Summer House has four bedrooms and two pools in its garden.
Beyond the rooms there is the hotel pool and CIRCLE, a pool bar open all day. The Bath House has a Byzantine hammam, a dry sauna, a heated indoor pool and treatment rooms. Next to the gym, the Asana Yoga Shala runs yoga, meditation and sound healing sessions every day, and there is a reformer Pilates studio and a racquet club with a tennis court, two padel courts and two pickleball courts.
For meals there is Cremnos, with Greek recipes given a modern turn, and Eleonas, serving Cretan food in the olive grove at the centre of the resort.

We like Acro Suites for the way it pairs a suite with its own pool on the cliff with a resort built around wellbeing: a hammam, yoga every day and restaurants on site. It suits couples who want to spend most of the holiday within the hotel, and, thanks to the villas, a few friends travelling together.
- Children are not accepted at the hotel.
- The private pool can be warmed to 23-26°C on request, with 48 hours' notice and at an extra charge. In the Cave Suites the heating is always available at no charge.
- Spa treatments and the Bath House facilities cost extra, and using the facilities needs a treatment booked in advance, by email or at reception. Pilates is also paid and booked ahead, while the yoga and meditation sessions are free and need no booking.
- Check-in is from 14:00 and check-out by 12:00. Room service runs until midnight.
