The Island Concept is a 15-room boutique hotel on a small, secluded peninsula near Agios Nikolaos in eastern Crete. Set across 6,000 sqm of Mediterranean grounds, it has its own sandy beach and a heated outdoor pool overlooking the sea.
The architecture draws on Greek simplicity, with white surfaces, natural materials, soft earth tones and blue accents. Rooms and suites are arranged across different levels, many opening onto furnished terraces facing the Cretan Sea. Eleven of the 15 accommodations have either a private pool or an outdoor Jacuzzi. Choices range from classic sea-view rooms to larger suites with separate living areas and heated private pools. Coco-Mat beds and carefully considered interiors carry through the collection.
Days here can be spent almost entirely outdoors. The private beach has sunbeds and umbrellas, while the main pool offers another place to settle in by the water. Blue Fish Restaurant serves Greek and Cretan-inspired dishes, and White Seal Bar provides a spot for drinks without leaving the grounds.
There is also a boutique spa, an open-air gym with an anti-gravity yoga installation, and 24-hour reception and room service. Heraklion International Airport is less than a 45-minute drive away, while Agios Nikolaos and the wider eastern Crete region offer opportunities to explore beyond the hotel.
The Island Concept works especially well for travellers who want a small seaside hotel with the facilities of a resort, where the beach, pool, restaurant and their own terrace can fill an entire day.

Few 15-room hotels have their own sandy beach, heated pool, restaurant and spa. That balance between a small property and full hotel facilities is what makes The Island Concept stand out to us. We would particularly recommend it for couples planning a slow seaside stay, especially in a room with an outdoor Jacuzzi or a suite with its own pool.
- Children are accepted at the hotel, but not every room category allows children. Check the occupancy rules for your chosen accommodation.
- Rooms and suites are located on different levels. The Classic Room with Living Terrace and Outdoor Jacuzzi is on the ground floor and is suitable for guests with limited mobility.
- Outdoor Jacuzzis in certain room categories have a maximum temperature of 28-30°C, depending on the room type.
- The entire collection of 15 rooms and suites can also be booked together for groups of up to 30 guests.

The Island Concept sits on a small peninsula on the outskirts of Agios Nikolaos in eastern Crete, surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation and the sea. Its sandy private beach is within the hotel grounds, making it easy to spend the day by the water.
Agios Nikolaos is one of eastern Crete's main coastal towns, known for Lake Voulismeni, its harbour, restaurants and cafés. The surrounding region also offers boat trips to Spinalonga and walking routes through the Cretan landscape.
According to the hotel, Heraklion International Airport is less than a 45-minute drive away.
