Makry Gialos is arranged around a sandy bay on Crete’s southeastern coast, east of Ierapetra, with tavernas, cafés and accommodation beside the water. It offers a smaller-town alternative to the larger resorts.
Choose it for a holiday focused on the southeastern coast, pool days and selected nearby drives. It is not a convenient base for frequent outings to Chania or Rethymno. Check arrival distances and current sea conditions rather than relying on a general bay description.
